Features of the Department:
Mathematics is Science which studies quality structure space and provides an effective way
of building mental discipline, encourages logical reasoning and mental rigor.
The Department of Mathematics was established in 1990 and the success graph of the
department is linearly increasing till date. The number of students taking admission in the
department is exponentially increasing for the last 33 years.
In the academic year 2019-20, the Department has received a grant from the Department
of Biotechnology, New Delhi, which includes 15 computers and two licensed copies of
MATLAB Software. To survive in the era of modernization and competition, many activities
such as National conference, National Webinar, Guest lecture series, Seminars and Projects
are implemented by the department.
Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and TIFR Mumbai jointly organizes Madhava
Mathematics Competition every year in which many students take participation.
A great number of high ranking students have been trained by the department and many of
them have achieved success in NET and SET exams.
Aims and Objectives
- To develop Mathematics among the girls students.
- To develop scientific temper among the students by collecting real life data and
analysis using statistical technique.
- To develop competitive skill and creating Global competency among the
students by organizing Statistics and Mathematics Quiz.
- To develop Mathematical Skill among the students belonging to rural areas,
Minorities and weaker section of the society.
- To be able to understand and present mathematical proofs
- To be able to apply physical insight and mathematical techniques to the solution of
problems in applied mathematics
