Bahujan Hitay Bahujan Sukhay, was the motto laid down by Late Karmaveer Bhausaheb
Hiray, a Gandhian and a staunch freedom fighter who played a major role in the formation of
the state of Maharashtra. He was an educationist and an Ex-revenue Minister of the then
Bombay province and founded the two well-known educational institutions in Nasik District
namely, Adivasi Seva Samiti in 1945 and Mahatma Gandhi Vidyamandir in 1952.
Mahilaratna Pushpatai Hiray Arts, Science and Commerce Mahila Mahavidyalaya was
established in 1990 for girls keeping in view the rural students deprived of education. It
started with Arts, Science and Commerce stream and offers 15 subjects at undergraduate, 03
subjects at post-graduate level and a research centre in Marathi. It is the first college affiliated
to Savitribai Phule Pune University that offers music as a subject at post-graduate level. The
college has received grants under DBT (Star College Scheme) and also functions as a study
centre for various courses.
The college strives to impart quality education so as to empower women and make them
globally competent. The noble path shown by our forefathers has always been and shall
always remain our guiding light.
